IT TAKES A COMMUNITY TO END PETLESSNESS

Lake of the Woods Humane Society is a non-profit (501c) animal shelter that is completely volunteer run and relies on the generosity of our neighbors for all aspects of animal care and operations. You can be assured that 100% of your donations and time go directly to the pets and their care.
We are committed to nurturing and promoting responsible pet ownership and creating a community where we are guided by compassion towards animals. Our dedication is achieved through adoptions, community awareness, and caring for pets until loving-permanent homes can be found.
We have recently adopted a new concept in animal welfare and adoptions by using social media, prirnted advertising, and various community outreach sources. This concept is aimed at increasing "our adoptables'" exposure and provides outreach to our community on a variety of pet related topics.
Research has shown that some are reluctant to visit animal shelters. Some might find it easier to choose a pet in the comfort of their own home or may be a considerable distance from the shelter. This comfortable environment facilitates adoptions to those who may not have considered a shelter animal, while raising community awareness.
